There is an old saying that states, “out of sight, out of mind.”  For many of us, such a statement makes us think of our not so organized closets and the wild assortment of paraphernalia that has been shoved there to be out of sight.  We cringe at the thought of having to open any closet door for fear of the avalanche that may ensue.  But the good news is, with a little planning and a bit of help from closet organizer companies and their systems, anyone can easily have an organized closet.  Here are a few pointers to keep in mind.

Finding clothes to wear is usually the first thing we do in the day, so making your bedroom closet organized should be a top priority.  Put the things you wear most often front and center so you aren’t searching through tons of old, unworn items to get to the things you need.  In fact, items that you no longer wear should be removed from the closet altogether.  Then, try to organize what is left by category.  Hang office clothes together, casual clothes together and eveningwear together. This will make it so much easier to find what you need.

In addition to putting everything in some kind of order, also consider adding extra shelving, baskets or modular units to the closet to help you get even more organized.  This way items like folded sweaters, jeans and shoes can all have a home of their own.

One item that people often overlook that uses up a lot of valuable space, is an overabundance of hangers.  Often, with dry cleaning we tend to acquire extras that we just don’t use.  Clear them out on a regular basis, or keep them stored somewhere else for future use if needed.

Once you have enjoyed the pleasure of an organized closet in your bedroom, it’s time to tackle the others in your home with similar gusto.  You’ll find that life will run just a little smoother with every one you do!
